Finished and launched another new site, for a product called Limpetite

Erica Schmerbeck helped me put a new face on LaptopMod.com last week, and I’ve also rebuilt Ausgeek.com ready for a new look to come in the future. I have high hopes for these sites as I think the concepts are solid, but we’ll see if they actually do anything.
LaptopMod is showing more potential than any other sites in my portfolio, though I think a lot of the registrations so far are spambots. That can be a good thing though, as it means there’s something there they think is relatively valuable or ranking well for a term they see value in. Good stuff.

Chaos Tamed was recently contracted again by Tasman Engineering up in Gladstone to work on new functionality for their online store. The Firewheel store previously built was done in around 2004 so it was time for a change. The graphic design didn’t change much but that was the only thing that stayed even close to what it used to be, with a complete overhaul of the shop logic (to cater for multiple products, discounting logic, shipping logic) in the works.
Now, out the other end, I’m very happy with the results. The store is smarter than most online stores in that it will actually calculate your shipping costs before you even get to the checkout, and it will do it in a way to get you the best price. The product prices are dynamic, showing you exactly how much more you will have to pay to get an item to you, instead of just an arbitrary number with hidden extra shipping costs.
Have a look at the NEW store here; www.firewheel.com.au

Quick update about another site I’ve just launched today for a client; http://www.redteamconsulting.com.au/

I’ve just launched a new personal project site, laptopmod.com
I’ve owned the domain for years, but I’m finally looking at writing some good content for it!

Just launched another blogging project; MakeMeLearnStuff.com
The basic idea is in the title; people tell me (or strongly suggest) what to learn to do, and I write an in depth article with pictures about how I went about learning it, if I figured it out, how long it took me, and what resources I used. The goal is to only use my own research methods, i.e. anything that one person with internet access can find out easily (so there’s a lot of google searches).
This is a long term project, for fun rather than profit. I always enjoy expanding my knowledge, and I’m the kind of guy that always needs a project to sink my teeth into!

Just a quick update with another finished website project, this time for a small stationary design company in Cleveland (the one near Brisbane). The site’s at www.idowedo.com.au
This was done through Chaos Tamed, which I also just redesigned and came up with a new logo for.

I recently was brought in to make a website for a local independent film called Sleeper here in Brisbane, Australia. The site’s just gone live, and I’m pretty much a permanent part of the project as the webmaster in my spare time. I worked closely with their graphic designer to give the site the look they wanted and I think it turned out really well: http://www.sleeper-film.com/

I’ve just put up a new version of http://www.monstercolors.com.au/ after working with their graphic designer for the last three weeks. Unlike most of my recent sites, this one is not CMS driven. Instead I decided to make it from scratch with a little help from Ruben my sidekick here at Wicked.

Ken from UBSA (Used Bus Sales Australia) approached me to do a website for him for his business, which has now been completed and is live for all to see on the internet. I helped Ken with all aspects of getting his new site online from setting up new email accounts, training on how to update it, buying the domain and hosting the site, and of course building the site.
On this project I worked with a very talented graphic designer, Erica Schmerbeck, who produced the website layout.
